(Q) My mail server is VERY slow since I installed a router or other NAT sharing software, Connecting my computer directly to my cable/dsl modem gets rid of the delay. What the heck is going on?
(A) Some mail servers are starting to implement something called the IDENTD protocol to cut down on spammers hijacking mail servers. Try using port forwarding to send port 113 to the computer trying to send mail.
(Q) What is a cable/dsl or broadband router?
(A) A broadband router is a small box that allows multiple computers to connect to the Internet using a single IP address. A more detailed explanation can be found here: broadband router
(Q) I have run out of ethernet plugs on my router. How do I add more computers?
(A) A ethernet broadband router can be expanded by plugging in an ethernet hub or switch. Run a standard ethernet cable from the UPLINK port of your new hub or switch to a standard port on the router.
