HOW TO SET UP THE URC
The 4WAY has 4 Device Modes (TV, VCR, SAT & AUX) . The 4WAY can be set-up either by entering the appropriate codes from the list of codes supplied or by using the Library search facility. Instructions for the use of both methods follow.

Set Up by Entering Device Code

[ Note: If you do not touch any keys on the 4WAY within 10 seconds during set-up, the 4WAY will automatically abandon the set-up process and revert to the last entered code. This feature reduces accidental erasure of your  codes]

Referring to the DEVICE CODE LIST:

1.   1.   Turn on your device (e.g. TV)

2.   2.   Look up the brand name of your equipment under your type of device in the Device Code List.

3.   3.   Look up the 4-digit Device Code next to the brand name of your equipment. If there are more than one code listed for your brand, start from the first code with the following instructions:

4.   4.   Hold down  POWER and  MUTE on the 4WAY simultaneously for 4 seconds until the STATUS indicator lights up and stays red, then release the keys.

5.   5.   Press a desired Device Mode Key twice (e.g. TV). The STATUS indicator  goes GREEN. The device indicator goes RED.

6.   6.   Use the number keys to enter your 4-digit Device Code. The STATUS indicator goes RED  if you have entered the code correctly.

7.   7.   Try the keys on the 4WAY that correspond to similar keys on your original remote control. If your device responds correctly to your commands, you have entered the right Device Code and can proceed to point 10.

[ Note: The 4WAY will not offer any extra facilities which do not normally work on your equipment ]

8.   8.   If not successful, press a desired DEVICE INDICATOR once (e.g. TV). The STATUS indicator goes GREEN. The device indicator goes RED.

9.   9.   Repeat steps  6-8 with the other available Device Codes until your device responds correctly to your required Device keys, or to the highest amount of Device keys from the keys available on the 4WAY.

10.10.If the found code works correctly, press the Device key twice. All lights on the 4WAY should now go out.

11.11.Write down the code you found to be working, in the space provided on the back of your remote control.

Simply repeat the above procedures to enter the Device Codes for you VCR, SAT/CTV or CD.

Set Up by Searching Through the Library
If you cannot identify a correct Device Code for your equipment from the Device Code List, you may try our code search method:-

Turn on your device (e.g. TV)

  1. Hold down  POWER and  MUTE keys on the 4WAY simultaneously for 4 seconds until the STATUS indicator goes and stays red, then release both keys.
  2. Press a desired DEVICE INDICATOR (e.g. TV). The Device indicator turns RED.
  3. Enter the appropriate Library Search Code for your device (as listed in the table below), and your 4WAY is now ready to start searching.
DEVICE TYPE                                  TV       VCR    SAT/CTV       AUX

    LIBRARY SEARCH CODE             9991   9992   9993               9994

( Example:  POWER and  MUTE ....TV ....9991)
  4. To search, aim your 4WAY at the selected device (e.g.TV),
  5. Press the  POWER key repeatedly for two seconds ON and two seconds OFF, until the device goes into standby mode.
  6. Try the number keypad to see if your device switches ON again and the keys work correctly. If your device does not switch ON, press the "Mute" key and then the "Power " key to repeat the code so that the Device comes ON. Now try the number keypad.
  7. If you accidentally skip a code which turned your Device ON or OFF, you can go backwards by pressing the "Mute" key.
  8. If the code you found does not work correctly, repeat steps 5 to 8 until you find a better one. When you have reached the end of the Library, the Device indicator will blink twice per second everytime you press the "Power" key.
  9. Once you are happy with the code found, press the same device mode key (e.g. TV) once to memorise the code. The STATUS indicator and Device indicator will turn off and set-up is completed.
  10. You can find out the code that operates your device, by following the steps in Device Code Recall. Write down the code you found to be working, in the space provided on the back of your remote control.

Simply repeat the above procedure to search for the Device Codes for your VCR, SAT or CTV. (Remember to press a correct Device Mode Key in step 3 above).

OPERATING THE URC

Normal Operation
Once you have set up the URC for your A/V equipment, it works like your original remote controls. To operate, just aim it at your equipment, press an appropriate device mode key and invoke the desired function by pressing a corresponding key on the URC. The indicator flashes during signal transmission and as confirmation of key touch.

Please Note: The 4WAY can only duplicate functions that are on your original remote control. Any extra keys on the 4WAY which are not on your original remote control, will not operate, as your device does not possess the facility for carrying out these functions.
