Battery Installation

 

The Genie requires 2 xAAA batteries.

 

1. Remove the battery cover from the reverse of the Genie.

2. Insert the batteries. Please ensure the polarity is correct by ensuring the + and - marks match the same positions on the batteries.

3. Replace the battery cover. Your Genie is now ready for operation.

 

NB If for any reason you need to remove batteries that are not completely flat, replace batteries within 3 minutes to avoid reprogramming.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Setting the Genie.

 

Number of device: TV, VCR, SAT

 

There are two possible ways to set up the Genie.

1.    By using the library search routine.

2.    By entering the Manufacturer ID code.

 

Instructions for both follow.

 

To key in any of the Manufacturer ID codes listed, use the CH- , CH+ , V- , V+ , and MUTE keys. Refer to GENIE conversion table below.

Set-up by Library search

 

1. Switch on your device manually or with your original remote control.

 

2.Press the Genie Power and Mute keys together until Status LED turns on in 2 seconds.

 

3.Press a desired device key and LED will turn on.

 

4.Keep pressing the Power key down for 2 seconds, and let go for 2 seconds, until your device ( TV, VCR SAT) switches OFF.

 

5.If your device turns off, press the device key once to stop the Library Search. Now try the keys on the remote control. If you accidentally skipped a code that turned your device on/off, you can go one code back by pressing the Mute key.

 

6. If the code you find doesn't work correctly, press the device key for 1 second and the device key will blink once. Repeat steps 4 to 6 until you find a better code. When you reach the end of the library, the Genie LED will blink twice per second and the set up mode is cancelled.

 

7. If you are happy with the chosen code, press the device key for 4 seconds until the Genie LED and power LED goes out and the code is stored.

 

 

 

 

 

Set-up by entering Manufacturer ID Code

 

1.    Look up your device brand name and ID code in the MANUFACTURER ID CODE listing further on in these instructions.

 

2.    Press the Power and Mute keys together until Status LED comes on.

 

3.    Press the required device key where you want to store your code. Device LED comes on.

 

4.    Type in the 4 digit MANUFACTURER ID CODE from the code list.

 

5.    If you are programming a TV, press the CH+ key. If you are programming a VCR, press the V- key. If you are programming a SAT, press the V+ key.                 NB: When programming by Manufacturer ID Search, you can set the TV/VCR/SAT keys to work any combination of TV’s, VCR’s or Satellites.   

 

6.    The device key should blink once if the code is entered correctly.

 

7.    Press the POWER key repeatedly for 2 seconds down and let go for 2 seconds, until your TV, VCR or SAT goes OFF(or into STANDBY).

·         Press the lit Device key once.

·         While your device is OFF, press the CH+ to turn your device back ON and now try other function keys on your Genie.

 

NB.   If you accidentally skipped a code which turned your device on/off, you can go one code back by pressing the Mute key.

 

·         If not all of the keys function correctly, press the lit Device key for 1 second and the device key blinks once. Repeat step 7 until you achieve a satisfactory numbers of functions on the Genie. If you reach the end of your device manufacturer library without finding a suitable code, the device key will blink twice per second and the set-up mode switches to a complete Library search mode.

 

8.    After you have found a suitable code, press the device key once, and then for an additional 4 seconds until the device key and Status LED go out. The code is then stored.

 

 

Channel Operation

Some older televisions and video recorders do not have Channel +/- keys. The genie attempts to overcome this for your convenience . The Channel +/- keys are used as numeric keys from 0-to 99 as follows;

 

If you press CH+ or CH- key once, digit code goes up or down)

(CH +): - Digit "01" -> CH + "02"-> CH +"03"     

(CH -) : -  Digit "03"-> CH- "02" -> CH- "01"

 

Please note however that this function is not available on all codes in the genie.

 

 

 

     

If there's a problem!

 

The Genie LED does not operate?

      Replace the batteries.

 

The Genie does not operate when the keys are used?

      Check the batteries and replace if necessary, plus ensure you direct the genie at your device.

 

The Genie does not perform the required action/operate your device?

      Check the operating code and change if necessary.

 

Pressing one key gives the wrong result?

      You may need to check the code again.

 

Your brand is not mentioned in the code list?

      Please set up the Genie using the search method.

 

 

Disclaimer

1.    Whilst all attempts have been made to include in the Genie as many manufacturers and TV/VCR/SAT devices as possible, older/less common models may not be in the Genie library. This also applies to new models for which code information is not yet available. Neither does the Genie support RF and non-standard infrared remote controlled equipment.

2.    The Genie cannot give you functions which are not supported by your TV/VCR/SAT in the first place.
